Gemini Wind Park
The Gemini Wind Park, located in the Dutch North Sea 85 kilometres off the Groningen coastline, is one of the Netherlands’ largest wind farms and is a crucial building block in the renewable energy infrastructure. The capacity of the total wind farm is 600 MW (150 wind turbines with a capacity of 4 MW each), good for an annual electricity production of about 2.5 TWh, equitvalent to the consumption of about 750,000 households. This is a saving of 1.5 mln tonnes of CO₂ emissions.

Balancing supply and demand
Operator PZEM, the buyer and programme responsible party of the power generated by Gemini, is responsible for balancing the production of the wind farm. PZEM acts as the crucial link between the supply and demand of renewable energy.
This means they constantly monitor the balance between the amount of energy generated and market demand. PZEM’s ambition is to seamlessly match production and consumption of energy at the hourly level.

Indispensable raw material
Salt, present and extractable in the Netherlands, is an indispensable raw material for much of the Dutch chemical industry. About 40% of organic chemistry depends on salt. Salt chemistry provides essential building blocks for many everyday products such as building materials, pharmaceuticals, contact lenses and (sun)glasses, cleaning and cleansing agents, flooring, PVC, paper and aluminium production, concrete substitutes and water purification. It also forms the basis for important components of the ‘new economy’ such as insulation materials, LED lamps, wind turbine blades and lithium batteries.
Grow Greener Together
Last year, for the second year in a row, Nobian received an Ecovadis platinum rating for the objectives from its “Grow Greener Together” sustainability programme. EcoVadis is the world’s most trusted provider of business sustainability ratings. This maintains Nobian’s position in the top 1% of more than 90,000 companies rated by EcoVadis worldwide.
About Gemini Wind Farm
Gemini Wind Farm, located in the North Sea near Schiermonnikoog, has been a crucial part of the Netherlands’ commitment to renewable energy since 2017. As one of the largest offshore wind farms in the Netherlands, with its 600-MW capacity, it supplies around 750,000 households with clean energy and reduces 1.5 million tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. Gemini Wind Farm is an example of how large-scale renewable energy projects can contribute to the energy transition.
About PZEM
In 2023, PZEM strengthened its market position by joining the EPH group, with EP Netherlands as its new shareholder and owner. EP NL is a Dutch energy company focused on energy trading, the supply of electricity and gas, the management of a significant portfolio of sustainable PPAs (Power Purchase Agreements), as well as the operation of power plants. This partnership brings together more than 100 years of experience in the energy sector and enables us to realise our shared ambitions as a reliable and ambitious player that actively contributes to shaping the future of the energy sector. With a cumulative capacity of 2.6 GW, EP NL has become one of the largest power plant operators in the Netherlands. Its modern, low-emission gas-fired power plants play a crucial role in providing the required flexible capacity to the energy system, allowing EP NL to react quickly to changing market conditions such as fluctuating prices, increasingly unpredictable renewable energy sources and changing grid conditions.
